The Last Flight of Kanchana - butterfly story (PART-2)

Kanchana’s Secret

The butterfly led him to a clearing deep inside the woods. There stood an old stone bench, cracked with age, surrounded by glowing night flowers. As Aru stepped closer, the butterfly landed on the bench and slowly transformed.

Before him now stood a glowing figure—a woman, cloaked in robes of wind and stardust, her hair floating as though underwater. Her eyes were golden like the butterfly’s wings.

“You followed me,” she said gently.

Aru’s eyes widened, but he said nothing.

“I am Kanchana,” she continued. “I was once a butterfly, born from the last wish of a dying tree spirit. I carry forgotten memories and unspoken songs. And I have come to help you remember.”

Aru clutched his flute.

“Your mother’s songs still echo in these woods,” she said. “But the world is losing its music. Do you wish to bring it back?”

Aru hesitated, then nodded slowly.

Kanchana smiled. “Then you must take a journey—not outside, but within.”

She placed a hand over his heart, and in an instant, Aru was no longer in the clearing.
